Shock wave therapy
For some time now, sound waves with a medium energy level (so-called shock waves) have also been used for the treatment of shoulder calcification, tennis elbow and golfer's elbow (epicondylitis), calcaneal spurs, Achilles tendon pain, pseudarthrosis, and other chronic inflammations of the tendon attachments. With the state-of-the-art generation of devices, the shock waves are generated pneumatically and emitted radially across a freely movable shock wave head. By means of biofeedback, the shock wave head is positioned over the treatment area, the focus of the shock waves being within the center of calcification. Treatment length depends on the type of disease, the range is between 3 and 6 minutes. Three treatments are carried out in intervals of 1 week each. The efficiency of this treatment method has been demonstrated by clinical studies. With 95% of the treated patients, the treatment results have been good to excellent.
