Post-surgical monitoring
The ATOS clinic offers:
1 WAKE-UP ROOM:
- 8 wake-up beds in the surgery area with post-surgical respiration
- The wake-up room is managed by anesthesia specialists (managing physicians: Dr. Kern, Dr. Uhler)
- We do not employ assistant physicians in the area of anesthesia
- The staff in the wake-up room consists of graduated anesthesia nurses
1 MONITORING ROOM:
- 4 post-surgical monitoring beds
- Without respiration units
- For emergencies, respiration via a positive pressure respirator (Pulmomat) is offered
- Medical monitoring during daytime by a specialist for anesthesia / internal medicine
- During the night and on the weekend, monitoring by a specialist for anesthesia or internal medicine
- Duty room is located next to the monitoring room and connected
- Graduated intensive care nurse for the monitoring room
- Extension to 6 monitoring beds is planned
Cooperation with the INTENSIVE CARE UNIT of the medical clinic of the University of Heidelberg
- Agreed availability for admitting patients
- Transfer via ambulance
- Direct distance 800 m
Planned surgical/orthopedic interventions at the ATOS clinic
- Identification of high risk patients by anesthesia specialist prior to surgery
- If required, pre-surgical scheduling of a direct transfer to the intensive care unit of the university - rare
