Rupture of the distal biceps tendon
In case of extreme tension or excessive strain of the biceps tendon in the elbow, the tendon may rupture acutely. Since the biceps controls flexion and the rotating movements of the forearm, surgical refixing is advisable.

Technique
By means of a Z-shaped cut in the cubital fossa, the ruptured tendon is located. Then, the attachment area at the radial bone is made accessible, and after drilling a hole, the tendon is fixed in the bone by means of transossary sutures.
Follow-up treatment
Immobilization by means of a splint for 2 weeks and accompanying physiotherapy for a total of 8 - 12 weeks usually restore the elbow function in a very satisfactory way.
